A very good copy of the scarce first Dutch edition with the fine handcoloured plates depicting oisters and other sea-animals. Miyasita nr. 133:" This Dutch book preserved in the library of Waseda University was one of the presents from Fr. von Siebold too Udagawa Yoan, and also one of the sources of Shokugaku keigen ,written and published by Udagawa in 1833.Both vols. without divisional title to the first part as almost always (general volume titles present); vol. I leaf Y misbound after leaf Y3 and outer blank margin of plates XI-XVI sl. dam./ brittle spot near lower outer corner (endpapers and outer margin of lower board also affected); 1 textleaf unobtrusive sm. hole (paper flaw); a few unobtr. contemp. annots in blank margins; occas. sl. foxed.
