Lindeboom p. 236 :" Michiel Boudewijns practised medicine in Antwerp. He was a parish doctor and lectured anatomy and surgery. The latter function was espically created for him. He wrote 'Dienstlich Tijd-verdijf.' Rather scarce first and only edition". Sondervorst p. 111:" Zijn leerling Michiel Boudwijns onderwees er anatomie en chirurgie van 1662 tot 1682, en was medeauteur van de officiële farmacopee van Antwerpen, namelijk Pharmacie Galeni Chymica Antverpensis ( 1660). Added engraved title page, illustrated./ Keynes 71./ A translation from the Dutch edition of 1665, sometimes attributed to Nicolas Le Fèvre. According to Willems (Les Elzevier, 1880, no. 1784) printed by Blaeu in Amsterdam. La Haye has also been suggested as place of imprint. Cf. Keynes, loc. cit. Heirs no. 4835 (engl. ed. 1643) :" Browne was not only a noted physician, but one of the great English writers and philosophers of the seventeenth century. Johann Heinrich Cohausen (1665-1750) was born at Hildesheim, became a doctor of medicine in 1669 and the Bishop of Munster's physician in 1717. A rare medical postincunabel on Avicenna, includes the text of the Liber nonus ad Almansorem. With fine engraved ex-libris, copy from the library of Corn. Henry à Roy Medicinae Doctor. Galeazzo Santa Sofia, was a member of the collegium medicum in Padua in 1386 and professor of medicine. He went to Vienna in 1398 to be a professor in medicine and was the court physician of Albrecht IV. He was the first to perform a section on a human body in Vienna. See Hirsch. A very rare work.

Extremely scarce unrecorded first edition. All library entries and bibliographies mentioning only the Edition Leipzig 1775 or Venice 1775. Lindeboom p. 763-4:" In 1754 he was called to Vienna by G. van Swieten in order to take charge, as professor of medicine, of the clinical instruction. He also became Court Councillor ' Hofrat' and physician in ordinary to the Empress Maria Theresa. D eH. Introduced the regular use of the thermometer into the clinic, he also made use of electro-therapy. During many years he publsihed his experiences in the ' Allgemeines Krankenhaus'." No copy of this extremely scarce first edition in N.C.C. ( B.M.N.) nor other internet library catalogues ( KVK / O.C.L.C only one copy of the 1774 edition Univ of Southern California).

Leipzig, 1910.- 1935. This highly rare collection is in 46 original cases. The general condition is very fine. There are totally 2187 original offprints. 365 have an dedication by the authors, mainly for Prof. Held. numerous are annotated by Prof. Held. About 80 % was published between 1920 - 1935. About 20 % before 1920.
Prof. Held was born in Neukloster in Mecklenburg, studied at Rostock and Leipzig ( biology and medicine), and worked at the " Anatomischen Institut " at Leipzig. He worked in the field of embryology and was appointed professor in 1917 at the same institut. ( See Fisscher I p. 604-605) This is his great collection of offprints in the field of classical and comparative anatomy, experimental anatomy, embryology, teratology, microscopy, genetics, zoology. ( Also dentistry , gynaecology, anthropology, orthopaedics, veterinary science, physiology, ophthalmology, microsopy, histology as far as they are related to embryology). The authors worked mainly in that time leading anatomical and embryological instituts. Like Leipzig ( Held) ; München ( Wetzel, Mollier) ; Würzburg ( Braus, Stöhr); Freibrug im Breisgau ( W. v. Möllendorff); Greifswald; Hamburg ( Poll); Rostock ( Elze); Breslau, Halle, Königsberg, Göttingen ( H. Fuchs); Wien, (Hochstetter/A. Fischel) among others.
