With 2 large folding and handcoloured maps of Visée drawn by Holch. ( 1 : 1250). ca 85 x 33 cm. Three typoscript letters. with 6 drawings of the "Rathaus zu Visé". Drawn portrait of Holch. " Holch Architectus. " Signed C. Mebel '97." Original full calf. with " Visé "on frontcover. Fine condition.
From one of the letters by his superiors:" Ich fande die Arbeit ausgezeichnet .... und auch mit besonderem Intersse das von Ihnen unter so grossen Schwierigkeiten zusammengebrachte Abbildungsmaterial...." Interesting manuscript by the German Architect Holch, who was a "Hauptman " in the German Army during World War I. The aim was to document the damage in the first two years of Visé of this terrible war. Often picture postcards and original photographs are taken from the same point of view. Probably this manuscript was ment for publication and of course used for the restauration of the city of Visé in Belgium.
